Mark Jordan

Attorney

"Over the years I practiced law, I got tired of seeing folks either being taken advantage of or being improperly counseled when going into a transaction. They have such talented minds and creative assets, but they need legal and administrative structures to protect their intellectual property and their business as a whole. To provide counsel to them and the businesses they create became our mission at Bracepoint."

Mark Jordan is a top-tier attorney and founder of Bracepoint Law. He formerly chaired a major Seattle law firm’s intellectual property practice group and is an expert on commercial and corporate law, intellectual property and international business transactions.

But that résumé hardly captures Mark’s connection to the creative entrepreneurial community that comprises the core of Bracepoint’s clientele. He understands the spirit that drives successful creative entrepreneurs. More importantly, he’s passionate about protecting clients by helping them identify and construct essential legal protections.

As principal and lead attorney, Mark focuses his practice on:

  • Domestic and international partnership, corporate and limited liability company formations
  • Structure and negotiation of asset purchase, stock purchase and merger transactions
  • Intellectual property licensing, assignment and related contractual arrangements
  • Trademark search, clearance, state and federal registration and policing
  • Copyright registration and policing
  • Publicity right clearances
  • Domain name disputes
  • Web site audits, terms and conditions statements and privacy policies
  • Motion picture, music and multimedia transactions

Mark also maintains expertise in formation options for start ups and established businesses (including limited liability companies), angel and venture capital investment and organizational governance.
Experienced, principled, progressive

In his career, Mark has tried, arbitrated and mediated numerous commercial cases (both plaintiffs and defendants) and practices primarily before the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington. Mark is also a Rule 39.1 Neutral for the U.S. District Court, Western District of Washington.

He served as advisory board president of Catholic Community Services – Legal Action Center, Pacific Northwest Blues in the Schools and provides pro bono services to several other non-profit groups.

Perhaps most importantly, Mark combines humanistic sensitivities with shrewd business savvy, qualities that deliver bottom-line benefits to Bracepoint Law’s clientele.

"If there is one sentiment I constantly share with clients, it’s this: I’ll spend your money as if it were my money. I know how crucial cash flow can be to smaller businesses. From day one, I pledged that our firm would be upfront about what we charge and negotiate flat fees whenever we can. Our clients deserve that."
